Located in its headquarters in downtown Moorhead at 702 Main Avenue; 702 Communications currently has fiber optic facilities interconnecting with all the inter-exchange carriers in Minnesota. Interstate connections are also completed via existing fiber optic facilities. These fiber connections lead in all directions making 702 Communications’ Moorhead site a strategic networking hub location.

702 Communications also has an office located in Wahpeton at 325 Dakota Avenue. That location serves the community as the sales, customer service, and technical offices.

702 Communications is a jointly owned limited liability partnership initially organized in 1989 to provide Interactive Educational Video and Audio services to a group of public schools in western Minnesota. Since its inception, 702 Communications’ offerings have expanded into inter-exchange high capacity, private line, non-switched services. With the Telecommunications Act of 1996, 702 Communications also moved into the local dial tone market.

702 Communications is well positioned by its existing business base, location and technical competence to offer expanded competing telephone service to the Fargo-Moorhead, Wahpeton-Breckenridge and Dilworth telephone exchanges of North Dakota and Minnesota respectively. 702 Communications’ mission is to provide alternative, high quality telecommunications products at competitive rates.

702 Communications offers basic single party service to both residential and business customers at competitive rates. Services will also include competitively priced long distance services and equal access to other long distance providers. 702’s market advantage will be expressed by competitive rates, a strong local presence to insure a high level of customer service and state-of-the-art technology.

The Telecommunications Act of 1996 offers new market and service opportunities to 702 Communications by allowing competing local exchange services. Well positioned by its earlier plant investments, 702 Communications’ goals are to be Moorhead’s choice for telecommunications service including:

  • The “POP of Choice” (Point-of-Presence) provider for Inter-Exchange Carriers (IXCs) and others requiring facilities located in the Fargo-Moorhead and Wahpeton-Breckenridge areas.
  • Continued expansion of inter-exchange special access or private line services.
  • Switched local and toll access services.
  • Local intra-exchange special access services.
